John Tory is a Canadian lawyer, business leader, community activist, broadcaster and former Leader of the official opposition of Ontario and former Member of Provincial Parliament.
Mr. Tory was elected leader of the Ontario PC Party in 2004, and was elected MPP for the riding of Dufferin Peel Wellington Grey in 2005.
The early years of his career were spent practicing law in Toronto and working as Principal Secretary to Ontario Premier Bill Davis and Associate Secretary of the Ontario Cabinet. When he returned to practice law, he accepted invitations to join the boards of several prominent Canadian companies, including Rogers.
He later joined the Rogers Group of Companies, first as President and CEO of Rogers Media and then as President and CEO of Rogers Cable.
Mr. Tory has served as campaign chair for several charitable organizations including Metro Toronto United Way and St. Michael’s Hospital.
He also served as volunteer Chairman and Commissioner of the Canadian Football League over a nine year period.
John Tory is a founding board member and the new chair of the Greater Toronto CivicAction Alliance. He currently hosts a daily talk show on Canada’s leading talk station, Newstalk 1010 in Toronto and serves on a number of business and charitable boards.
