Strengthening professional networks

PINs websiteLaunched in 2009, the Professional Immigrant Networks (PINs) initiative is one of the newest and most exciting programs at TRIEC. Through PINs, TRIEC is working with professional immigrant associations to increase their capacity to connect their members to meaningful employment.

PINs strengthens associations, connects them together in a learning community, and builds effective connections between associations and key partners – employers, professional associations, service providers, government and others. Together, TRIEC, professional immigrant associations and our partners are building a strong community that creates opportunities for immigrants and employers to connect.

Within the GTA, there are dozens of professional immigrant associations organized by profession or ethnicity or both. Collectively they serve more than 30,000 members. PINs aims to build the capacity of these immigrant associations, develop and empower their leaders to strengthen their voices in stakeholder consultations on immigrant employment, and make connections between associations, employers and other stakeholders.

In February 2012, TRIEC launched a PINs website to improve the visibility of these networks and to make it easier for immigrants, employers and other stakeholders to connect with them. Features include a searchable directory of networks, communication tools, a resource library and PINs success stories.
