Launched in 2009, the Professional Immigrant Networks initiative (PINs) is one of the newest and most exciting programs at TRIEC. Through PINs, TRIEC is working with professional immigrant networks to increase their capacity to connect their members to meaningful employment.
PINs is both an online community and a program of strategic initiatives that strengthens networks, links them together in a learning community, and builds effective connections between networks and key partners – employers, professional associations, service providers, government and others. Together TRIEC, professional immigrant networks and our partners are building a strong network of networks that creates opportunities for immigrants and employers to connect.
Within the GTA, there are dozens of professional immigrant networks organized by profession or ethnicity or both. Collectively they serve more than 30,000 members. PINs aims to build the capacity of these immigrant networks, develop and empower network leaders to strengthen their voices in stakeholder consultations on immigrant employment, and make connections between networks, employers and other stakeholders.
In February 2012, TRIEC launched a PINs website to improve the visibility of these networks and to make it easier for immigrants, employers and other stakeholders to connect with them. Features include a searchable directory of networks, communication tools, a resource library and PINs success stories.
