My Pathways to Employment (Polycultural Immigrant and Community Services)
My Pathways to Employment is a five-week online course designed for Ontario Works recipients struggling to find jobs or facing multiple complex barriers to employment. This program at Polycultural Immigrant and Community Services starts with an intake and assessment stage to understand a participant's struggles, needs and wants related to employment. Afterwards, participants join an 80-hour pre-employment development workshop that includes career exploration and essential employment skills development. At the conclusion, participants are put in post-program and post-hiring support for six months.

Food Handler Training and Certification (Dixie Bloor Neighbourhood Centre)
In this program at the Dixie Bloor Neighbourhood Centre, participants learn about safe food handling, including food sanitation, type of food-related hazards, hygiene and food handling practices and regulations that protect them and their families from becoming sick from food and drink. It also helps participants prepare for the Food Handler Certification exam. Upon passing the exam participants will receive a Food Handler Certificate valid for five years, and can utilize their skills and certification to find employment in the food sector. The S.O.A.R. (Skills, Opportunities, Action plan, Resources) program at the Centre for Immigrant and Community Services (CICS) aims to offer employment support to low income earning immigrant women who reside in York Region with the goal of being employed in entry level administrative positions. It provides participants with employable skills so they can move beyond precarious employment and obtain entry level career opportunities in administration and establish a realistic career plan. Over an eight-week period, participants receive intensive in class training on computer skills, customer service, relevant work place language, soft skills, job search skills as well as one-on-one support for career planning and employment support. Following the training, participants are placed with employers for a four-week placement, with the goal of eventually being hired permanently.

Labour Market Bridging for Volunteers: Interpretation and Translation (CIWA)
Labour Market Bridging for Volunteers: Interpretation and Translation is a full-time 20-week employment training program which supports bilingual professional women. Participants build skills to become community interpreters as well as translators and gain knowledge and skill to function as freelance interpreters and translators in a self-employed or contractual environment. Training includes the curriculum of Cultural Interpretation Services for Our Communities (CISOC). Clients obtain certification through the Community Interpreter Language Interpreting Skills Assessment Tool (CILISAT). The program follows a social enterprise model, collaborates with businesses and agencies to offer paid interpretation and translation work to program graduates. The Return to Work Alberta (ROWA) team helps clients find and maintain full-time meaningful employment. Clients receive 4 weeks of workplace preparation training, which includes 100 hours of employability skill sessions that cover various employment-related topics. After the workplace preparation training, the ROWA program will offer two streams of support: 1) Transition to Employment Services Employment Placement, which supports clients in preparing a resume targeted to their employment goals and assists marketing clients to prospective employers; and 2) Transition to Employment Services leading to Workplace Training (WPT), to determine the targeted industry and develop a plan to find an appropriate employer to host the client. WPT is paid work exposure, subsidized by the program's funders. Here, participants learn not only how to build a resume but also how to prepare for the job market. Participants also take part in all sorts of workshops, for example, a work safety training session led by Safe Workers of Tomorrow and financial management sessions. In addition, participants will do mock job interviews with people from outside CDEM in order to be better prepared. Those who complete the program go on to find a job themselves.

The Mentorship Program (Saskatchewan Intercultural Association)
The Mentorship program is a free work-readiness program designed for newcomers who want to gain Canadian experience in their training area and learn more about Canadian work culture. The Program consists of two major parts: 1) an 8-week in-class portion consisting of workshops on resume and cover letter writing, Canadian workplace culture and workers' rights, job search techniques, interview skills, presentations from employer partners and industry experts, and various other employment-related topics; and 2) an 8-12 week work placement in which participants complete a volunteer internship with a company involved in the client's training area.
