scotiabank red engWe’re pleased to announce that Scotiabank will sponsor our Professional Immigrant Networks (PINs) initiative until 2017.

The Professional Immigrant Networks initiative is a network of professional associations, run by and for immigrants to Toronto. Through PINs, TRIEC supports the associations to help their members find meaningful employment.

Scotiabank has been a sponsor of PINs since 2011. With this renewed sponsorship, PINs will be able to provide more comprehensive support to its existing members and bring new members into the network

Both TRIEC and Scotiabank have welcomed the announcement.  “Scotiabank recognizes the value of supporting newcomers to Canada and is dedicated to engaging a diverse workforce that reflects our communities,” said Islay McGlynn, Scotiabank’s Senior Vice President, Employee Experience.  “Together, through the Professional Immigrant Networks initiative, we are creating opportunities by increasing the capacity for members to connect to meaningful employment. Together, we are building stronger communities.”

Over the years, Scotiabank has launched various initiatives to support newcomers before and after they arrive in Canada. Through the Scotiabank StartRight Program, the Bank offers customized products and offers, education and multilingual services designed to support landed immigrants, international students, and foreign workers.

TRIEC’s Executive Director Margaret Eaton said: “We are very grateful to Scotiabank for their continued support, which will help TRIEC reach and empower more skilled immigrants across the Greater Toronto region”.

The news is perhaps most welcome to the associations, who will directly benefit from the funding. PINs member the Association of Romanian Engineers in Canada said: “Thank you to Scotiabank for being a generous supporter of the PINs Initiative. This project fosters collaboration between professional immigrants and helps the network leaders become more effective in helping immigrants succeed. “
