Share your experiences and help make change in the Greater Toronto Area job market

Are you a woman who has immigrated to Canada? Are you working or looking for work in the Greater Toronto Area? If so, TRIEC would love to hear from you about your experiences in the workforce.

Immigrant women, especially those who are racialized, have been shown to have been negatively affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, which has brought pre-existing inequalities in the workforce to a head.

As part of a new piece of research, we are trying to better understand the factors that have helped or hindered immigrant women in their job search and career progression. By sharing your experiences and perspectives in an anonymous online survey, you could help us inform employers on how to shape more inclusive practices.

Who can take part?

If you:

  • Identify as a woman
  • Immigrated to Canada less than ten years ago
  • First settled in the Greater Toronto Area and have been here for at least one year
  • Are within the core working age group (25 to 54 years)
  • Completed post-secondary education outside of Canada before immigrating
  • Are currently seeking employment, underemployed or employed in the Greater Toronto Area

We would love to hear from you.

How can I take part?

Simply click on the link below to access the survey. Your answers will remain anonymous and the survey will take around 20 to 30 minutes of your time, depending on your responses.

We are seeking about 400 participants for the online survey. We are also seeking up to 15 participants for a 45 minute to 1 hour follow-up interview. The interview is purely optional. If you complete the survey and are interested to also take part in an interview, you will be given the option to provide your contact information and we will get in touch with you to schedule a time. You will be provided with a $25 Indigo e-gift card for your participation in an interview. You can complete the online survey without taking part in a follow up interview. But participation in an interview requires that you first complete the online survey.
