The Toronto Region Immigrant Employment Council (TRIEC), in partnership with Settlement.org, recently launched a new online directory of professional networks for immigrants.

November 2009
Maytree Newsletter

Located on Settlement.org, the leading online, immigrant-serving portal, the directory lists sector and ethno/language-specific groups run by established skilled immigrants for the benefit of new professionals who want to build networks within their fields and communities.

How does the directory benefit you?
The tool will be valuable to new immigrants as well as several other stakeholders.
• Employers: connect to professional immigrant networks
• Immigrant-serving agencies: connect your clients with established professionals in their sector
• Professional associations: engage new individual and organizational members
• Government agencies: disseminate information directly to over 30,000 new, established, and prospective immigrants

TRIEC launched the immigrant networks project earlier this year, to develop a stronger, collaborative relationship with these groups, and to help build their collective capacity to better connect immigrants to employment.

The networks listed on the directory are part of the more than 70 groups found during TRIEC’s environmental scan that initiated the project.
