TRIEC Mentoring Partnership

People who volunteer as mentors gain management, leadership and essential cultural competency skills. Meanwhile, their mentees get support with their job search and a deeper insight into the Canadian labour market.

The program matches recent skilled immigrants with mentors in their field. Now operating for more than ten years in the Toronto Region, The Mentoring Partnership has facilitated over 10,000 mentoring relationships between skilled immigrants and established Canadian professionals.

We deliver TRIEC Mentoring Partnership in collaboration with GTA-based companies and organizations (employer partners) and community agencies (service delivery partners). Employer partners promote the mentoring opportunity internally to staff and identify suitable, qualified volunteer mentors. Service delivery partners match these mentors with skilled immigrants and support the mentoring relationship over four months.

Since the launch of the program, over 50 organizations have offered TRIEC Mentoring Partnership to their staff as a volunteer opportunity to enhance their leadership and coaching competencies, and develop their cross-cultural skills. Both employer partners and individual mentors praise the program for its ability to provide these learnings and ultimately, create change in immigrant integration.

The Mentoring Partnership celebrated its 10th Anniversary in  December 2014.
