By volunteering as mentors, professionals gain management, leadership and develop essential cultural competence. Meanwhile, mentees in get support with their job search and acquire deeper insight into the Canadian labour market.
The program matches recent skilled immigrants with mentors in their field. Operating in the Toronto region since 2004, TRIEC Mentoring Partnership has facilitated over 16,000 mentoring relationships between immigrant professionals and established Canadian professionals.
We deliver TRIEC Mentoring Partnership in collaboration with GTA-based companies and organizations (employer partners) and community agencies (community partners). Employer partners promote the mentoring opportunity internally to staff and identify suitable, qualified volunteer mentors. Community partners match these mentors with immigrant professionals and support the mentoring relationship over three months.
Since the launch of the program, over 50 organizations have offered TRIEC Mentoring Partnership to their staff as a volunteer opportunity to enhance their leadership and coaching competencies, and develop their intercultural competence. Both employer partners and individual mentors praise the program for its ability to provide these learnings and ultimately, create change in immigrant integration.
TRIEC Mentoring Partnership celebrated its 10th Anniversary in December 2014.
