DM_TMP_28July2015-151This January, we are celebrating Mentoring Month! We know that The Mentoring Partnership, the program that pairs skilled immigrants to Canada with established professionals in their field, brings value:

  • For mentees – 75% of whom find work in their field within 12 months of their partnership
  • For mentors – 95% of whom report being better able to motivate, coach and develop people
  • For society – a recent impact assessment conducted by the Boston Consulting Group found that for every dollar invested in The Mentoring Partnership, $10.50 were returned in benefits to society.

And the need for this program is growing! As 2015 came to a close, we saw a marked increase in the number of recent immigrants waiting for a mentor to help them reconnect with their career in Canada.

So this January we are issuing a challenge: Become a mentor… but don’t stop there. Encourage at least 1 of your friends or colleagues to become a mentor too! We welcome mentors from across a wide range of professions but URGENTLY need mentors from engineering, sciences (chemists, biologists) and supply chain.

Get Inspired!

Throughout Mentoring Month, we’ll be sharing quotes and stories from our mentors on why they mentor with The Mentoring Partnership.  Quotes like this one from 10-times mentor Intesar Khan:

“Mentorship is all about empowerment – providing guidance and encouragement.  I have found that this relationship often benefits not only the Mentee but also the Mentor.”

Join in – tweet why you mentor using the hashtag #WhyMentor or email your reason to triecinfo@triec.ca. We’ll be sharing many that we receive online.
